Troubleshooting the Connection with Google's Find Hub AppUpdated 20 days ago

This guide will help you resolve the most common issues when connecting your SmartCard Gen 3 to the Google Find Hub app on Android.

Confirm the SmartCard Is in Pairing Mode

Your SmartCard must be in pairing mode to be detected. To activate pairing mode:

  1. Press and hold the SmartCard button for 5 seconds.
  2. The device should:
    • Emit a sound
    • Flash the LED

If you do not hear a sound or see the LED flash, continue with the steps below.

Charge the SmartCard

A low battery may prevent pairing.

  1. Place the SmartCard on a wireless charger.
  2. Align the lightning bolt icon on the back of the card with the center of the charger.
  3. Confirm the red LED appears (charging indicator).
  4. Wait until the LED turns green (fully charged).
  5.  Attempt pairing again.

Check if the Device Is Already Linked

Open the Google Find Hub app and verify whether the SmartCard is already listed. If you have multiple Google accounts on your phone:

  1. Open the Find Hub app.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Switch between accounts.
  4. Check whether the device is associated with a different account.

Perform a Factory Reset

If the SmartCard is not responding or pairing fails, perform a factory reset.

Confirm You Have a Compatible Product

Google Find Hub is only compatible with SmartCard models labeled “Works with Android.” Devices received prior to November 1, 2025, are not compatible with Google Find Hub.

Check the product packaging for the “Works with Android” badge. If you own:

  • An older SmartCard model
  • A SmartCard designed exclusively for Apple Find My

It will not work with Google Find Hub.

Note: The SmartCard supports Left Behind alerts. However, this feature is not currently supported by the Google Find Hub app. As a result, you will not receive Left Behind notifications when using this platform.

Enable Bluetooth

Bluetooth must be enabled for pairing and syncing. To enable:

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Search for Bluetooth.
  3. Confirm Bluetooth is turned ON.

Check Internet Connection

Your phone must be connected to the Internet to complete pairing.

  • Ensure Wi-Fi or mobile data is active.
  • Move to an area with a stronger signal if necessary.

Enable Nearby Device Scanning

Fast Pair requires nearby device scanning to be enabled. To enable:

  1. Open phone Settings.
  2. Search for Google.
  3. Navigate to Devices & Sharing > Devices.
  4. Enable “Scan for nearby devices.”

You may also find this option under “Nearby device scanning” in Settings.

If you continue not seeing the Fast Pair prompt, you may enable “Include debug results” within the same menu (refer to Google support documentation for details).

Restart Your Phone

Some updates require a reboot to function correctly.

  1. Turn your phone OFF.
  2. Turn it back ON.
  3. Wait approximately 10 minutes to allow background services to restart.
  4. Ensure Bluetooth and Internet are enabled.
  5. Bring the SmartCard close to your phone.
  6. Press and hold the button for 5 seconds to activate pairing.

Verify Find Hub Network Settings

Confirm that Find Hub is enabled for your account:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Google.
  3. Tap Find Hub.
  4. Select “Find your offline devices.”
  5. Choose one of the “With network …” options (recommended: “With network in all areas”).

Fast Pair Bottom Sheet Not Appearing

If you previously dismissed the Fast Pair prompt multiple times, Android may temporarily suppress it to avoid repeated notifications.

Check the Bluetooth Nearby Section

If you missed the Fast Pair prompt:

  1. Open Bluetooth settings.
  2. Look under Nearby devices.

Do not tap “+ Pair new device.”

Google uses Fast Pair for Find Hub. Manually pairing via Bluetooth will not link the SmartCard to the Find Hub app.

If you already manually paired it:

  1. Remove the SmartCard from your Bluetooth device list.
  2. Perform a factory reset.
  3. Restart pairing using Fast Pair.

Multiple Google Accounts

If your phone has multiple Google accounts:

  • Ensure you are logged into the correct account inside the Find Hub app.
  • Refer to the separate Help Center article covering multi-account setup.

Phone Compatibility

Google Find Hub requires:

  • Android 9 or newer
  • Latest version of Google Play Services
  • Latest version of the Find Hub app

Although the feature is globally available, some regions or devices may not yet have received the required updates.

You can verify:

  • Google Play Services version in your phone settings
  • Find Hub version in the Google Play Store
  • Device compatibility under the Play Store’s “Additional Information” section

For instructions on checking your Google Play Services version, refer to Google’s official support documentation.
